thejavaengineer

I’ve worked as a software engineer for the last 5 years, and the projects I’ve been involved in have ranged from simple desktop applications to complex web applications used by thousands of users every day. Most of the applications that I’ve worked on are still in use today, by companies, organizations and individuals. Whenever I’ve worked in a team with other engineers, I’ve always been one of the people that have worked the hardest, and who were responsible for making sure that the applications actually worked. That led me to help and collaborate with other people (who had other responsibilities on the same project), so I got to learn various technologies.

My favorite language is Java, and I’ve worked with technologies and frameworks such as Spring Framework, Play Framework, Hibernate, JUnit, Guice, etc. I also have a lot of experience with web design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), Big Data, cloud technologies, and…

The Last Jedi: Part One

The Journey to the Awakening

Author’s note: I don’t like to venture into the future, unless it’s to use it as a literary device to springboard back into the past. After all, this site is devoted to exploring Kylo Ren’s past. But the following scenario is such a great fan theory that I just had to see it in print. So, here it is…my envisioning of the great confrontation sure to take place on Ahch-To in Star Wars, Episode VIII: The Last Jedi from Kylo Ren’s point of view.

The only light came from the primitive glow inside the corbeled stone huts. She’d been living in one and Luke the other, Ren supposed — the cells of the first Jedi acolytes, erected out of the bones of the jagged mountain that rose from the sea. The first Jedi temple. The Force was strong on Ahch-To but strongest on this peak. Ren could feel it…

The Journey to the Awakening

THE LAST JEDI (PART 2)

Luke eyed the four masked figures who hemmed him in, cutting him off from his padawan — but only in the physical sense. Powerful as the Knights of Ren were, they could not sever the Force connection he shared with Rey. He felt her struggling and scraping with their determined leader — the padawan who’d betrayed him and pushed aside his careful teachings. The bond between uncle and nephew, master and padawan, was still there and would continue beyond this life, but the Dark side had thrown up a shroud of cinder and vapor between them — or at least that’s how it seemed in Luke’s mind. He couldn’t reach Ben that way, but there were other minds not so veiled.

The old Jedi inhaled deeply and let his words out through the Force, along with a slight wave of his hand. “You do not…

Star Wars – Balance in the Force Rey gets a message from her mom.

Mara Jade Skywalker: Rey my dear child there are so many things I want to tell you. Listen to your father he is a great man he can train you to be a powerful Jedi.

Your father and I met back when I was a smuggler hauling parts across the galaxy. I even worked for the Emperor Palpatine for a time. But fate led me to Luke and he took me in and trained me to use the Force. We fell in love and a few years later you were born.

It was a dangerous time. The Empire now the first order was hunting down and killing all force sensitive children. You were hidden on Jakku. Lor San Tekka and his people were on a crusade to spread church of the force religion. General Leia your aunt knew Lor San Tekka well and Luke and I trusted him. He allowed you to travel with him. You were only 5 and already were so powerful with the force. Luke and I wanted to keep you safe. I hope you forgive us.

I will always love you little one. May the force we with you… Always

Reys eyes full of tears. Luke leans in and embraces his daughter. Rey we love you so much. I hope you will forgive me.
Father I understand you did what you had to do. To keep me alive.

Star Wars Balance in the Force fan film starting to take shape.

I have been on a roll lately coming up with new script and images for my first Star Wars animated fan film title Star Wars Balance in the Force. Kylo Ren has had enough of Snoke manipulating him so he decides to spill the beans about Snokes secret experiments in hope to regain Lukes trust. We also dive into the origins of the force and yes we will be going way way back to the first day someone said. I have a bad feeling about this.

The origins of the Force will be revealed in Star Wars Balance in the Force.

To help Rey understand, Luke takes her back to the origins of the Force itself.

They see two children playing near a tree on an alien planet. The boy noticed that he had greater strength and intuition when he was closer to this tree. The girl noticed that the tree also made her brother increasingly angry. One day an argument breaks out between the children, and the boy kills the girl. The boy touches the tree and is “transformed.” He kills his parents and leaves the planet. Meanwhile the girl is revealed to be alive, transformed by the tree as well, using her power to start the first Jedi Order.

So, humans first encountered the Force via a tree on a planet far, far away. Intriguing. But what’s more intriguing is the fact that this girl tells her followers that she will be reincarnated, as a boy or a girl, millennia after her death. I think we all know where this is going.

Love this story.

The Journey to the Awakening

Senator Leia Organa opened the door to the apartment looking tired but genuinely pleased to see her colleague, Senator Boreal Crex. He was one of the few Investigative Committee members who didn’t constantly make more work for her. Beside him stood his daughter Hada, a perky little thing the age of her son Ben. She knew the teens had spent time together on field trips and Young Mentors excursions. This was a social call then, despite the lateness of the hour.

“Senator Crex,” she said with a gracious smile. “Hada. It’s good to see you.” And beckoned them in. “May I offer you some refreshments?” She was about to turn toward the kitchen when Crex held up a hand, unsmiling.

“Ah, no, thank you,” he returned in a voice pitched low, absently fingering the gloves in his hands. His eyes darted briefly about the room, trying to see down the…
